Children's Ministry Minister of Children:
Our newest addition to the Church staff is Ms. Rachel Williams. Rachel joined us on September 1, 2004, and blessings to our children and their families have never been richer. Rachel brings a fresh, exciting, and creative approach to Children's Ministry. As a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where she received a Master's degree in Christian Education, Rachel also brings the educational foundation necessary to minister effectively to children growing up in the 21st Century world. With a strong sense of calling to reach children with the Good News of Jesus, Rachel provides Bethany Lane Baptist families with the very best that can be offered in Children's Ministry today.
Introduction to our Children's Ministry At
Bethany Lane, we believe that "children are a gift from the
Lord." We see our role as partners with parents in the important
stewardship God has entrusted them. It is our mission to come alongside
parents by helping children to know that God loves them; and by helping
parents to raise their children according to Godly principles. Ultimately,
it is our mission to prepare children for that day when they will receive
Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior -- the most important
decision of their lives! It is this decision that best prepares them
for life in the "fast lane," that place they will
all find themselves in -- and that place where God seeks to guide, direct,
and protect them.
Weekly Activities: "Faith Weavers and Friends" (a.k.a. FW Friends) Wednesday evenings. FW Friends is a program for boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade. FW Friends meets on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the lower education wing. The weekly meetings consist of prayer, Bible study, team games, refreshments and seasonal crafts. FW Friends is "kid-friendly." Kids love it! They learn many spiritual truths together -- but in an atmosphere of high energy, fun, and openness. Children's Choirs. A complete Children's Choir program is available for all children beginning with age two through grade 5. Click here for complete information on children's choirs.
Annual Special Events: Easter Egg Hunt On the Saturday morning before Palm Sunday, boys and girls of all ages meet for an old fashioned Easter egg hunt. Eggs are decorated in a spiritual theme with special prizes awarded to the children. Activities include crafts, games, and related activities for both the "high energy" children and those who prefer the "more quiet" activities. The highlight of the morning is a special teaching time of the real meaning of Easter. Because so many of the children are involved in the annual Easter Passion Play, special emphasis is placed on this event as families are encouraged to attend this important church wide event. Vacation Bible School (VBS) One of the most important children's activities of the year is Vacation Bible School (VBS)! At Bethany Lane, VBS is for the entire church family, including children, youth and adults. The activities begin in the sanctuary for a time of music celebration followed by separate classes, grouped by age and/or grade. The theme varies every year - and the children and their families keep returning for this special time of fun and learning about God.
Birthday Party for Jesus On a Wednesday evening in December, the children gather together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The evening always includes lots of games and fun activities as well as a time of learning about the birth of Jesus.
Backyard Bible Clubs Throughout
the Summer, families in the church sponsor "Backyard Bible Clubs."
These neighborhood Bible clubs last for a week and include games, music,
snacks, crafts and a Bible story activity. Often, the Bible studies
are designed for young children who do not have a relationship with
Jesus Christ. The youth of the Church are often involved as we seek
to meet the children on their level and in their language. |
